Deputy Prime Minister and minister for finance Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta said the initiative will provide businesses with relevant information on the kinds of licenses required, regulations guiding the processes and the fees required.
Kenyatta said e-registry would go a long way in improving regulatory transparency and help in reducing the risks and uncertainties associated with business registration.
All the information will be accessible via the Internet free of charge.
Kenyatta said the introduction of the facility was part of a wider strategy to enhance the country's economy.
He urged the private sector to enhance their competitiveness and expand the economy despite the current economic challenges facing the country.
"The government is in the process of creating digital villages to enhance accessibility throughout the country," he said.
Kenyatta said with the move the government will ensure a reduction in corruption during service delivery.
He said the new development will also aid in reducing the time spent in seeking the licenses and stamp out petty corruption in service delivery.
Uhuru said through the Licensing and Repeals and Amendment Acts of 2006 and 2007 the government has been able to reduce a large number of licenses that stood in the way of investment.
